Chickpea patties

Easy, fun and when your little ones are older they can join in too.

Cook rating: Easy
Prep time: 15 minutes (one hour to rest in fridge)
Cook time: 20 minutes

I was looking for something that I could do within the Slimming World diet so I read somewhere about Chickpea patties and then I thought I would just make it up to fit my tastebuds.ย

What you need to make this tasty dish

I am really not one for measurement, I tend to use my eyes a lot if youย in search of measurements then, unfortunately, you wonโ€™t get thatย from me. If you just want fun and experimentย with baby-led weaning, then carry on.ย

Tin chickpeas (240g)ย
Finely chopped onion
1-2 pieces of garlic crushed
1 tsp cumin powderย
1 tsp coriander leafs
Handfull of fresh coriander
Pinch of baking powder
Black pepper

Optional: Chilli and saltย

What you need to do

I like to get myย ingredients cut up and ready before I start, I found it saves on time.

Get your food blender or processor ready
Open chickpea tin, rinse and clean with running water
Finely chop the onions and mince the garlic
Add onion, garlic, cumin, both sets of coriander and baking powder to the blender/mixer and mix till it becomes smooth or you are able to mold it later on.ย ย
Put the mixture in a bowl and leave in the fridge for a minimum of an hour.ย

Once ready to cook

Put the baking sheet on a tray and preheat the oven to 200 degrees
Take chickpeas out of the fridge
Take a handful and mold into a ball and then press down to make a pattie Place on the tray which should make 6 patties and spray a little oil on them
Place in the oven for 8-10minutes, check and turn over for another 8-10minutes
Take and serve warm

I served this with a mixed tomato based veg, yoghurt and mint dip.ย

Note:

I made mine super soft so my little one can eat it as we have limited teeth at the moment.ย

My Little Man is a year old and loved this.ย
